Jack O’ Lantern

Written By Michael Reign on Friday, October 31, 2014 | 6:42 PM

At first glance, a figure appearing to possess an inherently innocuous connotation, is, in actuality, indicative of something far more sinister. The Jack O’ Lantern, an apparently harmless pumpkin replete with various carvings and aesthetic designs intended to represent the mood of those attending various Halloween festivities, is a prominent fixture in the annals of Irish folklore. In accordance with these customs the Jack O’ Lantern’s visage became the emblematic symbol of souls, condemned to wander aimlessly amidst a wide chasm separating the spirit realm from one of several eternal destinations ascribed to the afterlife. The fable referencing this assertion reads as such:

A man by the name of Jack, whose miserliness and seemingly insatiable penchant to indulge in luxuries at the expense of others prohibited him from entering the gates of Heaven, his path toward eternal damnation also irrevocably denied him due to numerous pernicious pranks levied against that region’s infernal liege, condemned to walk the space between realities carrying a lantern until the final day of judgment - his grim visage a reminder to all the consequences of one’s actions within the mortal coil.

The Irish townspeople, visibly shaken and noticeably terrified of the possibilities mentioned in the above tale, sought to ward off evil spirits from the confines of their homes by hollowing out large pumpkins and placing lighted candles within the central portion of their creations.

William Schnoebelen, a noted expert on the subject of European and Scandinavian mythological discourse, offers the following description:

Here it’s a pumpkin, but in Europe it was often a turnip, or a skull with a candle in it. This serves two symbols, 1) the Lord of the Dead, a “god” just like a Buddha – in short, an idol. 2) The fearsome face represented the god, Samhain - (Link 1, Link 2, Link 3), who would drive off less powerful demons that night. The lights in the Jack O' Lantern symbolize the “faery fires” or “Will o' the Wisps" which were believed to be the lost souls flitting through the night. They also hearken back to the huge Samhain “balefires” which were lit to help conjure back the god from the darkness.

Occult Symbolism | Clothing Accessories | Demonic Connotation

Written By Michael Reign on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 | 7:45 PM

The pictographic depiction above illustrating Baroness Philippine Mathilde Camille de Rothschild cloaked in beige raiment with conspicuously present gold emblazoned occultist regalia adorning the upper fringes of the fabric near its collared portion, is indicative of a demonic entity of Middle Eastern origin (Encompassing numerous regions in close geographical proximity to ancient Persia and India), more specifically known under the Jinni (Genie being the denominational English equivalent) nomenclature. It is believed that the Jinn attain nascence from the infernal regions and can assume the likeness of any animal or human in a natural setting. In Arabian folklore there are five separate incarnations, each possessing an inherent hostility towards anything beyond their scope of influence. These five classifications relevant to their principal existentiality are listed as follows:

1) Jann - The least imposing of the five disparate incarnations.

2) Djinn - The most commonly portrayed of the five, appearing in numerous cinematic animation sequences and full length feature presentations; these entities oftentimes exhibit a conspicuous non-malfeasant proclivity throughout the entirety of such films and maintain an outward guise of childlike innocence.

3) Shaytans - Also known as Shaitans; it is a term synonymous with devils, in Arabian mythology they represent the upper echelon of malevolence within the spiritual pantheon.

4) Ifrits/ Efreets - Exist as powerful evil spirits or demonic entities of gargantuan proportion in Arabic mythological text.

5) Marids - Demonic entities utilizing oceanic environments and the open waters of the sea as their principal sanctuary; Marids are mentioned primarily in pre-Islamic Arabian folklore and throughout areas of Southeast Asia as well as in numerous scriptural passages throughout the Qur’an.

Rod of Asclepius

Written By Michael Reign on Monday, May 12, 2014 | 7:38 PM

A symbolic motif evincing commonality with a wide variance of astrological philosophies, Greek spiritual pantheons - specifically the astral circle housing Asclepius (deity of healing and rejuvenation), and with medicinal occupation. A figure representative of a serpentine personage viscerally entwined around the circumference of a staff; the Rod of Asclepius, also known under the Asklepios or Aesculapius colloquializations, is similar in aesthetic appearance to the Nehushtan
(Alternatively christened under the Nehustan appellate, whose Hebrew equivalent: נחושתן or נחש הנחושת, is recognized as a sacred relic constructed in the form of a brass covered serpent resting conspicuously at the apex of a shaft).
The figure referenced in the initial portrait possesses an esoteric connotation emblematic of an ancient malevolence revered by the most influential of Masonic Orders. Baphomet, or the Goat of Mendes, a demonic entity housing androgynous predisposition, overtly parades the Rod of Asclepius in a display of ostentatious vulgarity from beneath the shroud of cloth resting furtively upon its waist region in nearly every conceivable artistic rendition ascribed to its visage. The Rod of Asclepius also possesses a significant degree of homogeneity with Hindu and Buddhist belief systems espousing a Chakra based wheel of enlightenment as a means to further ones evolution of consciousness.

Occult Symbolism | Clothing Apparel: Kvlture

Written By Michael Reign on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 | 11:18 PM

Founded in 2011, Kvlture is a Singaporean clothing and apparel brand specializing in the marketing of occult themed illustrations inspired by the teachings and philosophies of Aleister Crowley. The visuals depicted in the above entry are representative of its principal logo, a symbolic amalgam incorporating distinctive features attributed to the construction of the Necronomicon Sigil as well as the Unicursal Hexagram - a prominent fixture in Thelemic Law.

Necronomicon Sigil

The origins of this symbolic motif are predominantly attributed to the weird fiction subgenre  popularized by H.P. Lovecraft (Howard Phillips Lovecraft). The sigil, alternatively known under the Necronomicon Gate colloquialization, exists as a symbolic representation of reality’s fluidity - in that aspects of enlightenment pertinent to the spiritual ascension of one’s essence are malleable characteristics operating on a juxtapositional level with eternal destiny.

Unicursal Hexagram

Endemic to texts ascribed to the Book of Thelema, a spiritual philosophy developed by early 20th Century British author and ceremonial magician Aleister Crowley, the Unicursal Hexagram is a symbolic representation of religious identity/ recognition. Crowley’s adaptation of the figure houses a five petaled rose positioned within the axial corpus (centermost region), the flower being representative of the divine feminine aspect of the spirit realms union with the physical/ corporeal manifestations of perceived reality.

NOTE - The above visual depicts an insignia evincing commonality with the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn; the Ruby Rose within the central region of the Unicursal Hexagram emphasizing proper magick - alchemy, astral projection/ disambiguation (assumes the existence of an ‘astral body’ or soul independent from the physical/ corporeal aspect of self capable of traveling beyond the confines of anatomical limitation), and scrying (visualizing the immaterial world/ noncorporeal actuality through a process of psychic divination) are three prominent fixtures within the practice of proper magick.

Occult Symbolism | Clothing Apparel: Androgyne Manila

Androgyne Manila, a clothing and apparel line founded in 2011 and based in Taguig City, is the Philippine commercial industry’s latest attempt at introducing occult themed illustration inspired by various aspects of the Illuminist philosophy to prospective consumers. The incorporation of the term ‘Androgyne’ as part of the title for that brand’s style of clothing exists as a marketing ploy designed to blur the lines governing the concept of sexual identity with various occultist permutations referencing the androgynous nature of the Goat of Mendes or Baphomet. This merger of the feminine and the masculine aspects of one’s persona evidenced by said manufacturer's corporate motto: “The Marriage of Feminine and Masculine Fashion.”

Inverted Pentagram of Lightning

A symbolic motif oftentimes employed by theistic Satanic assemblages, representative of preternatural power and life-force descending from Lucifer into material essence.

Cross of Nero

Written By Michael Reign on Friday, November 8, 2013 | 1:25 AM

The Cross of Nero, known through an expanded variance of denominational classifications as the Peace Symbol, the Peace Sign, the Druid’s Foot, Druxtenfuss, the Neronic Cross, Raven’s Foot, Sign of the “Broken Jew”, Symbol of the Antichrist, Crow’s Foot, the Teutonic Cross (The Cross of Nero is purported to be emblematic of a primitive rendition of this figure, an iconic symbol from which its formative structure initially attained precedence), the Broken Cross, and Witch’s Foot. This symbol, also known under ‘The Dead Man’s Rune’ (In Germany this figure is recognized as the Toten-Rune/ Todesrune) pejorative; is clearly discernible on the base of numerous tombstones objectifying a vast contingent of Adolf Hitler’s ϟϟ Army. The Toten-Rune/ Todesrune is also present on numerous album covers and it serves as the central component of the Oldsmobile corporate emblem that is so prominent in advertisements. In the modern era, this illustrative composite is widely acknowledged as a conceptualization of world peace, yet beneath this veneer of beneficence lies a sinister esoteric connotation with regard to its principle theme. The Cross of Nero exists as an allegorical representation; symbolic of an inverted cross, fractured at its anchor and enclosed within a circle - signifying Nero’s vision of a world markedly absentia of Christianity. The Roman Emperor from 54 to 68 AD, Nero exhibited a visceral abhorrence of Christians, the Apostle Peter in particular, crucifying him at the zenith of an inverted cross (the event itself becoming synonymous with the advent of numerous pagan philosophies exemplifying a dichotomous relationship between the evident disparities between the fundamental tenets of Christian belief systems, and those endemic to occultist doctrine/ dogma). This symbolic motif, christened as the Neronic Cross in honor of the Emperor and his vicious campaign of persecution of Christians throughout the region, came to represent a long standing/ existential angst embodied by those within Nero’s inner circle.
The origin of this illustrative composite coincides with the visual mystic characterization indicative of the Aum or Om (a figure similar in construction to the split central portion of the letter Y within the most predominant forms of written narrative). The word itself sacred to adherents of Hindu philosophy, the Aum or Om was believed to serve as an instrument in the awakening of ‘the serpentine influence of Brahma’ at the base of the human spine. Occultist Albert Pike, purportedly the author of precepts governing the inception of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, identifies this formative composite as being mystical in nature - housing magical properties oftentimes associated with ritualistic practice endemic to witchcraft and the levying of curses through incantations. The Cross of Nero also signifies the “gesture of despair”, and the “death of man” (The inference of humanity’s demise alludes to the cumulative degeneration of the spiritual essence into a more primitive base through demonic influence).
With the arms of the cross raised in an upright position, it is recognized as a Pythagorean emblem representative of the cyclical patterns most often ascribed to the course of life - its primary semblance indicative of the risen path to enlightenment with divergent paths leading to unadulterated Good or Evil. In more recent times the Cross of Nero, absent its circular convention, became the identity of numerous organizations purported to foment racial apartheid and encourage cultural separatism through overt acts of intimidation and preemptive violence, the most recognized being Volksfront (Germanic terminological equivalency is recognized as “Popular Front”) - a neo-Nazi assembly for the White supremacist movement based primarily in areas of the Pacific Northwest. Variations of this symbol are also utilized by various Air Traffic Control Agencies as a means of facilitating the gradual descent and eventual landing of passenger planes, airliners, cargo/ freight planes, military aircraft, etc.

Udjat

An occultic talisman or emblem openly indicative of Lucifer’s supremacy within the infernal depths of Hell. Its true nature serves as an illustrative composite referencing the role of Lucifer within the Halls of Judgment, as it is through his malevolent designs that humanity is brought to the gates of eternal bondage/ everlasting torment. Placed conspicuously beneath the eye lies a diamond shaped teardrop, a figure representative of a type of mourning - for it is believed that this symbolic adumbration is in direct reference to individuals beyond Lucifer’s scope of influence.

All-Seeing Eye

Written By Michael Reign on Thursday, November 7, 2013 | 11:37 PM

The All-Seeing Eye, an appellation synonymous with the Eye of Providence, the Udjat present in Paganistic Rites and ceremonial traditions, the Eye of Horus within the annals of Egyptian mythology, the Eye of the World, the Third Eye of Clairvoyance in Hindu religious belief systems, the Eye of Phoebus or Apollo (Apollo, the Greco-Roman deity representative of prophecy, artistic pursuits and endeavors, healing, and later the sun itself, exists as an abbreviated/ abridged version of the Apollyon rubric. Apollyon or Abaddon, a cognitive appellate synonymous with the Devil in numerous Christian-based belief systems, for it is within this religious doctrine that each of these terms of reference exist as a symbolic depiction of one of the Trinitarian aspects of Satan so often mentioned as the ‘Beast’ throughout Biblical scripture ascribed to Revelation in the Last Days) the Eye of Baal in antediluvian Sumeria; and an innumerable host of others, exists as an illustrative depiction reminiscent of carvings and written documentation dating back to ancient Babylon.

Apollyon

Worshipped for centuries as the Solar Eye, it later became an emblematic euphemism within the annals of Roman mythological doctrine that served as a formative type of visual; referencing the omniscient nature of Jove/ Jupiter throughout their astrologically inspired pantheon.
The Illuminati, a clandestine symposium founded on May 1st, 1776 by Johann Adam Weishaupt, adopted the All-Seeing Eye as its principal symbol in an attempt to convey an aura of divine omnipresence. It was this illustrative composite that attained precedence in the United States in 1913, not long after the passage of the Federal Reserve Act which granted an unfettered autonomy to fiscal conglomerates and financial consortiums.

This Illuminist visage appeared on the reverse side of the One Dollar Federal Reserve Note, depicted as an incomplete 13-layered pyramidal artifice with the capstone conspicuously absent from the original design. Above this structure rests a triangle, bathed in a luminary resplendence indicative of Central American (Contrary to numerous written accounts and documentary research relevant to both geographical and archeological studies within such regions of North America, the Mayan cultural demographic was not the principal author of the fabled sunstone which has so often been referred to as a formative type of evidential proof substantiating humanity’s denouement in the latter stages of the 2012 calendar year. Aztec civilization was later recognized as the progenitor of this philosophical system of beliefs, a wide variance of scientific research and methodology affirming their creation of the sunstone, which exists as a type of cyclical based menological composite emphasizing the collapse of centuries into four disparate eras, with the fifth representative of events yet to occur) traditions ascribed to the worship of the Sun.

Black Cube of Saturn

Written By Michael Reign on Saturday, August 31, 2013 | 9:37 PM

Semitic civilizations made reference to the ancient deity Saturn under the “El” agnomen. This spiritual animus represented eternity and the totality of existence, and was formally recognized as the progenitor of every conceivable metaphysical pantheon ascribed to such celestial personages. This omnipresent entity is synonymous with the black cube.

WRITTEN ADDENDUM: A veritable montage of cube themed/ aesthetically inspired constructs decorate various aspects of the societal landscape, most notably in the Entertainment Industry, with the inclusion of a device known as a Lemarchand’s Box (An interdimensional conduit that serves as a portal of entry to an alternate realm of existence) - a prominent fixture in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser movie series. The Rubik’s Cube, while seemingly innocuous in nature, can also be attributed to this particular designation, in the sense that the principal theme of this figure exists as a three-dimensional artifice possessing similar features. The Borg Collective, a transhumanistic race of aliens featured on various occasions in Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek: The Next Generation episodic series, resided in a massive cube-shaped biomechanical construct, yet another aesthetically inspired rendition that can be attributed to Saturnian methodology. Lastly, the principal logo of the Nintendo Gamecube platform possesses a certain degree of commonality with the monolithic obsidian structure associated with Saturn’s divine nature. Similarly, there are numerous geographical locations throughout the world showcasing this particular figure, and while detractors of such findings steadfastly maintain a considerable measure of reluctance - citing mere coincidence as the sole proprietary reason for the appearance of these structures - its inherent symbolic connotation is much more difficult to dismiss.

The following cinematic references delve into such details at greater length, elaborating on the inherent nature of this Saturnian-inspired construct:

Occult Significance of Anarchy Symbolism

There exists an overriding esoteric connotation in accordance with the incidence of the anarchy symbol in literature as well as throughout the entertainment industry as a whole, the emblematic representation of such a figure is, in actuality, symbolic of an unspoken obeisance and devotion to Asmodeus - a demonic entity existing as the personification of sexual perversion and lustful desire within the spirit realm.

The trinacria itself is a symbolic representation of the risen animus, the zenith of the soul in its present state of existentiality, and the setting of the spiritual essence in its totality.

Written By Michael Reign on Saturday, July 13, 2013 | 7:22 PM

This illustrative composite acts as a symbolic avatar referencing the possible origins of the Biscione, its most prevalent incarnation possessing an Italian connotation. The aforementioned image, recognized as the Italian Biscione (This terminology is analogous with Italian vernacular/ linguistic derivative and is interpreted as an identifiable equivalency to a “large grass snake”), also known under the Vipera (Vipera serves as the literary equivalent to the reptilian viper, with the latter term existing as an abbreviated semblance of the former denominational classification. In Milanese dialect it is formally constructed as the Bissa) cognomen, serves as a heraldic charge (In heraldry the charge designate is indicative of the correspondent emblem or illustrative composite occupying the field/ background periphery of an escutcheon or shield) displayed in the guise of an Argent (A silver or white metallic tincture) and Azure (A blue shaded surface tincture) colored serpent in the act of consuming a human (The human in question is oftentimes portrayed as a child or infant in illustrative context, and on occasion is christened with the Moor [The Moor appellate exists as a literary reference to numerous historic and modern/ present day populations ascribed to the following cultural demographics: Berber, Black African, and Arab. These individuals exhibited an ethnic descent idyllic/ emblematic of geographical regions applicable to Northern Africa, some of whom eventually conquered and occupied the Iberian Peninsula for nearly 800 years] nominal designation). This visual composite also existed as an emblem representative of the Italian Visconti familial bloodline for approximately one thousand years.
