Geiranger Fjord

 

Geiranger Fjord (Its Norwegian dialectal interpretation recognized as Geirangerfjorden), located in the Sunnmøre (South-Møre is recognized as its English linguistic equivalency) region of Møre og Romsdal county in Norway, is a 15 kilometer (9.3 mile) long branch of the Storfjord (The Great Fjord, the 5^th longest topographical system in Norway, stretching approximately 110 kilometers or 68 miles in diameter). Its principal name derived from the Geiranger village which is located at the fjord’s terminus where the mouth of the Geirangelva River empties into it. Resting conspicuously on either side of this picturesque marvel are a number of long since abandoned farm houses, presumably from what would now be considered the antiquated remnant of a bygone era.
