Acting Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld issues a formal proclamation to various constituencies within the general public concerning the Pentagon’s inability to account for $2.3 trillion in unspecified funds, one day prior to the tragic events surrounding September 11^th of 2001. The subsequent day the Twin Towers, as well as Building 7, collapsed amidst what appeared to be an act of terrorism staged by Al-Qaeda affiliates operating from within the periphery of the continental United States. Conveniently, the previous days headlines were effectively overshadowed by the Bush Administration's modern-day ‘crusade against evil,’ a sequence of pre-emptive military operations that later became part of an even broader campaign in the Middle East - what eventually came to be known as the ‘War on Terror.’
